Pramono Highlights Increased Public Mobility Ahead of Holidays

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung highlighted the significant increase in public mobility expected in Jakarta ahead of 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year (Nataru) celebrations.

"Jakarta is hosting numerous events until the end of the year,"

This increase is tied to the numerous festive events planned for the holiday season.

Pramono noted that Jakarta is currently experiencing a spike in various activities, ranging from arts and cultural events to sports, which will continue through the end of the year.

"Considering the economic progress and overall developments, Jakarta is hosting numerous events until the end of the year, including those in arts, sports, culture, and more," Pramono said at Sari Pacific, Jalan MH Thamrin, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (12/4).

As the year-end approaches, he cautioned about possible traffic congestion caused by the long holiday and increased travel to and from Jakarta, noting that the Nataru season is a time when people travel for leisure and shopping in the city.

With this growing mobility, public transportation is expected to see greater demand. Pramono pointed to the Transjabodetabek Blok M–PIK 2 route, which initially targeted 2,000 daily passengers but is now projected to exceed 6,000 to 7,000 per day.

"The route is in high demand. The Transjakarta CEO has even received complaints about the limited fleet, which we will need to address," Pramono added.

He also mentioned that hotel occupancy has risen significantly. Therefore, the governor encouraged his administration to make the most of this momentum to boost local revenue, keep inflation under control, and ensure Jakarta remains a safe and comfortable city.
